J&J's Is Getting a Storefront on South Township Boulevard
J&J’s has never had a shop you could walk into. Six years of business, a Times Leader Best of the Best award, and all of it run online and through signings.
That changes. The address is 805 S Township Blvd, Pittston, PA 18640, and it is where your orders already ship from.
Not open to visitors yet
Worth being plain about, because the last thing we want is somebody driving over on a Saturday to find a locked door. Right now that address is where we pack and ship. The counter is coming, and we will say so here and on social the moment there is a date.
If you want to see something in person before it opens, message us and we will sort it out.
Why a shop, in this of all categories
Online selling solved distribution. It did not solve the thing this business actually runs on, which is trust.
Memorabilia asks the customer to believe something they cannot check by looking. Photographs help. A numbered hologram they can verify themselves helps a great deal more. Standing in a room with the item, turning it over, and asking a person questions to their face is still better than both.
There is also the part that has nothing to do with commerce. Card shops are places people hang around in. Jen Roberts grew up in her father’s, which is the only reason J&J’s exists. You cannot recreate that with a product grid, however good the photographs are.
What a counter adds
- Seeing an item first. A framed 20x24 photograph is a different object in person than it is on a screen, and the ones we carry are the pieces people buy to hang rather than to store.
- Bringing something in. Plenty of people have an item from a relative and no idea what it is. That conversation does not work over email.
- Local pickup. A large framed piece would generally rather not go through the post at all.
- Signings with somewhere to hold them. We run official signings through Unified Sports Group. A room of our own makes that considerably easier.
What does not change
Everything in the catalogue stays online and still ships. The loyalty programme runs across both, so points earned online spend at the counter and the other way round. Nothing you already own or have earned is affected.
Why South Township Boulevard
It is where the business already operates from, which matters more than it sounds. A memorabilia shop is somewhere people choose to visit rather than somewhere they wander past, so being easy to drive to and park at beats being on a busy street.
We will post the opening here first. If you would rather hear it directly, send us a message and we will let you know.
